Quick setup guide
These steps take less than five minutes and work on desktop or mobile.
Connect your OpenRouter key
- 1Create an OpenRouter account and add a small balance (₹200/$5 is plenty to explore).
- 2Go to openrouter.ai/keys, press “Create Key”, and copy the value that begins with sk-or-v1.
- 3Open the dashboard, paste the key into the setup card, save it, and then choose any tool.
Model tips
- Start with lighter models such as Gemini Flash or Llama to keep costs low while testing.
- Switch to GPT-4 or Claude only when you need deeper analysis or essay-style feedback.
- Clear or replace the key from the dashboard whenever you need to rotate credentials.
Stay safe
- Treat your API key like a password — do not paste it into shared documents.
- Export or copy answers you care about if you are on a borrowed device.
- If something feels off, clear the key in the dashboard and generate a fresh one on OpenRouter.
